Become a mentor: have one hand up and one hand down

Business

Tutoring, pass it

Success is hard…once you achieve it, chances are you have benefited greatly from a host of teachers, mentors, motivators, and high achievers who took the time to share ideas and brainstorm with you. concepts, and served as advisers or sounders. – boards or partners. I have learned that becoming a mentor to others and helping them achieve it can be just as rewarding as achieving it myself.

Success is not always easy and sometimes you have to earn it through years and years of trials and tribulations, through many hard battles to get to the next level.

Some don’t make it, ever.

So if you stick around long enough to achieve success, let me share something with you: Now it’s your turn to give something back and be a mentor to someone else.

Once you have amassed a lifetime of business and practical experience and a wealth of financial and marketing knowledge and insight, don’t be greedy! Don’t waste all that powerful knowledge by keeping it all to yourself.

Take someone who is just starting out and give that person the benefit of your hard-earned knowledge and experience.

Advise them.

Motivate them.

Contribute to your success as others contributed to theirs.

There really is no better legacy you can leave behind from your entrepreneurial career than doing your part to make it a little easier for the next dreamer.

This time, I’m not asking you to take my advice.

I tell you you should give them yours.

You have it in you to change lives for the better!

The mentoring relationships in my life, as I’ve gained more and more business experience, have tended over time to be more of a mentor than a mentor. But that doesn’t mean I don’t reach out to those who know more and have done more than I do, to seek their advice, seek their advice, and benefit from their encouragement. I will always have mentors, because I have gained so much from learning from others that I cannot imagine not seeking advice and mentorship from those who can help me along my journey.

It just means that today I have one hand up to reach someone at a higher level, I often have the other hand down to help the next generation of doers.

And if you have managed to accomplish some impressive feats in your business career, I hope you will do the same. Do you remember all those times someone opened a door of opportunity for you, made a key connection for you, explained something difficult so you could understand it, or taught you how to do what they did so you could get the same results? In my opinion, you have an obligation to pass on those lessons.

In the world of business that moves at the speed of light, the lessons learned over many years of struggle and error have a timeless value that only diminishes when you keep them to yourself. The moment you open your mouth to start teaching others, I assure you that if you keep your ears open, you will not only pass on the knowledge to others who will greatly benefit from it, and greatly appreciate you for doing so, but I am willing to Bet it all that you will learn from those you also advise.

And who knows, you might impart some of your hard-earned wisdom on some ambitious people, superstars on the rise who go on to do even bigger things in business than you. Isn’t that something to be proud of? Sure, it’s from a selfless perspective.

But also from a purely profit-driven selfish point of view, it makes sense to share your knowledge and guide others. In my experience, this is one of the best ways to discover new relationships with potential business allies, strategic partners, and lucrative opportunities with other action takers who understand what you’re all about, know the value you bring, and are looking to reciprocate by helping you. in the same way that it has helped them.
