Behold! The mighty Land Rover

Auto

When you talk about off-road driving, there is only one name that comes to mind, right? Land Rover! It is well known that the entire Land Rover range simply outperforms anything else when it comes to a combination of highway driving and uneven terrain. They are not advertised in the UK as “Best 4x4s by far” for nothing!

When it comes to the toughest off-road challenge in the world, there’s a very good reason it’s not called the Mitsubishi G4 Challenge or Toyota G4 Challenge. No other range of vehicles on the planet can compare to Land Rover when it comes to off-road capability.

From the classic Land Rover Series I, the popular Discovery or the impressive Range Rover Sport. They stay at the top of the automotive food chain because they are great on and off the road.

There are faster and more powerful 4x4s on the market like the Porsche Cayenne and the Mercedes ML. There are also vehicles designed exclusively for off-road use such as the Humvee or the UniMog. But as previously stated, neither of these vehicles can realistically compete on both asphalt and gravel with the Land Rover.

This has been at the heart of Land Rover’s design methods since the first vehicle to roll off the production line in 1948.

We’re not making too much fun of all the suitors to the Land Rover crown though, most of the vehicles mentioned here do very well what they were designed to do. Whether they’re built for speed on the freeway or rugged reliability on rough terrain, their downside is just that. They have been designed very well to do one or the other but not both.

The truth is, if you want a vehicle that performs well on tarmac and handles splendidly off-road, then there is only one realistic option. Do I need to say it again?

Land Rover “The best 4 x 4 x far”.
