Duane Lee “Dog” Chapman, an American bounty hunter and former bail bondsman, was born on February 2, 1953, in Denver, Colorado. When he was in his early 20s, he was known as an amateur boxer. He came to the bounty hunting career while in court, for his child support trial. He was unable to pay compensation, but the judge offered him a deal. Under that deal, he had to bring in a fugitive in exchange for paying a fraction of Chapman’s child support to Leland Chapman and Duane Lee. He was then the father of five children named Barbara Kate, Leland Chapman, Tucker, Duane Lee Chapman and Baby Lyssa.
Before moving to Hawaii with his five children, he started his bail bond business in his hometown of Denver, Colorado. However, he had to return to his hometown for the long stay after his mother’s death.
