The NordicTrack ASR 700 Elliptical is NordicTrack’s attempt to make elliptical machines more fun to exercise on. Workouts can get very monotonous, so to add a little more entertainment and excitement, they’ve incorporated their patented Game & Train(TM) interactive video games and ifit® training card technology into the console.
But before we talk about these cool features, let’s talk about the basics. When shopping at any online store, many will offer a home assembly service, but what I found with NordicTrack is that you really don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out how to put your elliptical machines together. The NordicTrack ASR 700 elliptical trainer is a good example, and assembly is easier than expected. Just make sure all the moving parts are properly lubricated.
The ASR 700 elliptical has a weight capacity of 275 lbs., so this elliptical remains fairly stable, even during high-intensity workouts with the weight of an average user on the move. The stride length is 18″, which for any rider under 6″ will promote a nice smooth ride. Users taller than 6″ may find this uncomfortable. For upper body, the training arms are fully adjustable, which is great for working upper body muscle groups, including arms, shoulders, and back. back.
NordicTrack ASR 700 elliptical machines come with 14 training programs that incorporate digital resistance. This is great for workouts as you can adjust the resistance during your workout for higher intensity and optimal calorie burn. Personal Trainer(TM) workout programs automatically control resistance for best results, but some beginners may find this difficult, so it is often best to start with a low resistance and manually increase the intensity. Heart rate pulse sensors are housed in the grips to measure accurate pulse readings that are displayed on the Clear View(TM) screen along with regular data such as time, speed, and resistance. This is also a nice touch for users who want to train with their target heart rate zones.
Now for the fun features. The NordicTrack ASR 700 elliptical cross trainer contains a music port with integrated speakers. Just plug in your iPod or mp3 player and work out to the sound of your favorite tunes. If that’s not enough, add more fun to your workout with the Calorie Destroyer(TM), Fat Blocker(TM), Black Jack and Texas Hold ‘Em video games. The games even get easier the more you work, which is great for helping you stay motivated.
But on a more serious note, another innovative touch is iFIT® training card technology. This training technology has been designed to help you tone up and lose weight, all in 8 weeks. I personally haven’t used them but they are basically cards programmed by certified personal trainers and they slide right into the console of the elliptical. Then the elliptical machine adjusts all the settings automatically and the personal trainer’s voice guides you through your workout. As the cards are sold separately, there is no loss if you prefer to do your own workouts, but if you need guidance and want to follow the program to get the best workouts, then the cards will cost extra.

The NordicTrack ASR 700 elliptical machines take the boredom out of continuous daily cardio workouts by letting you enjoy what really keeps you motivated. Fitness, weight loss and total body toning become more effective by focusing on the fun aspects of training. Not many other ellipticals in the $1300s will offer this and if you need guidance from a virtual trainer, at least the iFit card is always an option to help you achieve great results.
