Ping Eye 2 review

Gaming

I have read many Eye 2 reviews. They are all very consistent with my opinion. I’m just glad to hear that I’m not the only golfer convinced that the Eye 2 is the best even 20 years later. I bought my new game about 22 years ago. I have tried other deep cavity, forged, oversized clubs, super game enhancers, whatever and I have tried them but the truth is that nothing is better than the Eye 2’s, comparable perhaps but better is a difficult task to overcome and undertake. It is true that the sound of these clubs is not the best. In exchange for your forgiveness and overall performance, this is a lower price to pay. All balanced, the only downside is the lofts between some of the clubs. Some of the lofts on the irons may be somewhat dated, but still an acceptable distance and great trajectories. I will ask and maybe my pro shop can change the lofts. If they can do this (Golfsmth claims they can) I will end up with the best golf irons of excellent as they are.

Over the years, I have always come back to my Eye 2 plates. I have come to understand after years of trying one and the other, and I must say that there are many wonderful games on the market, that I will stick with my Eye 2 plates until end of their useful life, that is, if they do not surpass me, today I am 57 years old. As it is today, I have only replaced my long 4 iron with a 25 ° Ping G5 hybrid like the 3 iron with a # 7 G5 wood. This addition along with my G5 driver, woods no. 3 and n. 5 and an old Ping Putter make up my bag. I can’t have a better complete set of clubs. The only thing missing from my bag is a Ping Eye 2+ LW that I will change the loft from 58 ° to 60 ° once I can find it reasonably priced. I must add that the price it is priced for (Ping $ 145.00 in eBay’s similar price range) is really outrageous, but I’m willing to pay the price to complete the best ironing set anyone could have.

Today if I were to replace my Eye 2, which I don’t, I would probably buy the Mizuno MX-19 or Ping G5 due to their similarity and overall performance balance comparable to the Eye 2. As a technician I am and involved for several decades In the machining business, I think I have learned the difference between appearance and, more importantly, performance. Unfortunately, many golf clubs today are designed to seek differentiation rather than true game enhancers.

By far the best is the best for you. Don’t get away from this 20+ year club. They were designed and built with true forward thinking and technical intelligence. With all due respect, Ping has not been able to find a noticeably better iron in the last 20 years than they did in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Ecstasy and distance is not what golfers with medium or low disabilities are looking for. . Golfers in this category are the ones who would be more than pleased and willing to pay the + $ 1,000 price range for a true and remarkable technical innovation.
