Should rappers learn to produce their own beats?

Arts Entertainments

These days it’s so easy to get a laptop to download a cracked version of beat making software and start creating beats. Many producers are doing it and now many rappers see how easy it is and are taking the same path. Is there a problem with this? Absolutely NO, if you look at some of the greatest artists to make history, many of them have done just that. Artists like Kanye West, Soulja boy, Tyler the creator, and many more took the multi-faceted route. How much time and effort did they put into making their production is a completely different story, but HEY, they made it work! However, there are definitely a few things a rapper should keep in mind if he chooses to go this route.

WEATHER

Timing is a very important aspect to consider if you choose to be a producing rapper. Will you have enough time to work on your rap skills while simultaneously learning to produce? One thing to think about when taking this route is to divide it up. You could definitely do it all at once, but if you really want quality music, you will have to focus and focus on the ins and outs of how a craft works. That’s not to say you can’t spend a couple of weeks on beat making software, have a beat throw some vocals at it, and have a hit record. It is definitely possible, but also very RARE for that to happen. SO DON’T THROW ALL YOUR EGGS IN THAT BASKET. Even the boy from Soulja had to spend some time learning the FL syllabus and getting used to the tools and features he had to work with. However, in return, he also sacrificed some of his artistic ability, which brings me to the next point.

POOR

Music is an art based on free flowing emotion. You can make the simplest beat add some voices over it and people will feel it. Here’s the thing though, PEOPLE know when something is quality and when something comes together. That’s what distinguishes the best from the mediocre! I’m not saying you can’t be the best at more than one thing, BUT if you look at the real big players in the music game, those are the ones who stuck to one thing and really mastered it AND THEN moved on to something else. stuff. For example, Jay z is considered one of the best rappers of our time. He doesn’t produce, he just raps. He focused all his strength on that one thing and now he’s one of the best. Just take a look at all the greats in their fields Tupac, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Timbaland, Pharrell, Zaytoven, etc. AGAIN I am not saying that it is not possible to be multifaceted, BUT remember that you are going to have to sacrifice being great in one aspect during that process, therefore putting a side of what you do in mediocrity. You should always strive to be THE BEST.

INVEST IN YOURSELF

If you really mean business in this music industry or any other industry, you’re going to have to invest in yourself. People who try to find loopholes in everything never really prosper. You hear the stories about bankrupt rappers who did it out of thin air all the time, but one thing I can assure you about them is that they PAID. Everyone has to pay their fair share either way, you can’t help it. Everyone has their own situation, some people are fine, some people are BROKEN, but you just have to live within your means. If you have $ 100 in your name, find a way to take $ 50- $ 75 of that and invest it in yourself, in your presentation, in your craft. It takes money to make money. You can never do anything completely alone in business; you have to form a team. What does it mean to form teams? It means that you will have to pay people with some kind of currency or whatever you work to get the BEST out of them that you cannot provide yourself. NEVER ask for anything FREE. And if someone decides to offer or give you something FREE, remember that there is a price to pay (it doesn’t mean it sounds so dark, but it’s true). If you want to be a prosperous artist, you have to think in terms of business and entrepreneurship rather than just an artist or you will NOT prosper. And a true entrepreneur takes these principles into consideration and applies them to his business, so you must take the path to become one of the best rappers.
