If you are not saved, you are an incomplete person.

We’ve all heard someone say… Something is missing in my life and I’m not sure what it is. The fact is that they really lack something in their life that makes them an incomplete person. Adam and Eve were created as complete humans with body, soul, and Holy Spirit. God intended for them to live an eternal life. Unfortunately, because they sinned when they ate the forbidden fruit, they were destined for physical death and God also blocked communication through the Holy Spirit. The man was now incomplete. He still had a body and a soul, but his spirit was dead. For three thousand years, man could only communicate with God primarily through priests and prophets. The good news is that God has provided a way to become whole again.

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” Genesis 1:26. In this scripture we hear God speaking as more than one person. There are three components in God (Father – Son – Holy Spirit). There are also three components in man (body – soul – spirit)

There is only one true and living God. He is an intelligent and Spiritual Being, The Creator, Redeemer, Preserver and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and in all other perfections. The idea of ’One God’ was unique in the world when the Bible was born. All other societies had many Gods. Israel worshiped only the one true God, Jehovah.

God is omnipotent (almighty), omnipresent (everywhere at all times), and omniscient (all wise and knowing). He rules with providential care over his universe. He is the God of love, justice, mercy and wrath. He eternally exists in three persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. This is known as the Holy Trinity. Each personality has an individual responsibility, but they work in perfect harmony with each other.

THE THREE COMPONENTS OF DEITY

GOD FATHER: The Commander. He makes all the decisions and issues all the commandments. No decision or command can be carried out by the Son until the Father decides or commands it.

GOD SON: Jesus Christ, fulfills or executes the mandates of the Father.

GOD HOLY SPIRIT: It is the power that puts into action the action of the Son.

AN EXAMPLE: The Father gives the command to turn on a light – The Son Jesus flips the switch – The Holy Spirit directs the power that makes the bulb glow.

The Holy Spirit is the power of God. He is the power of both the Father and the Son. There is no way to communicate with the Father and the Son without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

THE THREE COMPONENTS OF MAN

THE BODY: The Bible refers to the body as the flesh. And he warns us not to live in the flesh but in the spirit. It harbors the senses to which Satan appeals, with the intention of tempting us to sin. They are our senses of hearing, touch, sight, taste and smell. It is easy to understand how Satan can use these senses to entice us into an activity that pleases the body but is against God’s teachings.

THE SOUL: It is the intellectual part of our person. The mind (both conscious and unconscious), capable of experiencing emotions and exercising free will to reason and make moral or immoral decisions.

THE SPIRIT: This is the part of the person that communicates with the mind. This is the battlefield where war is waged to persuade you to do good or evil. This is your conscience. We’ve all seen the scene in the movie where the little red devil was in one ear telling someone that it would be okay to do something that was wrong. In the other ear there was a beautiful angle that warned them not to do it. Well this is actually what is happening. We just can’t see them.

This is the area where the Holy Spirit resided in Adam and Eve.

This is the same Holy Spirit that resided in Adam and Eve and Jesus and can now reside in us because the Father sent the Son to die on a cross to pay our sin debt. “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus”

The moment we receive Christ as our savior, we receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Now we have the three components that complete us. One body, one soul, and the Holy Spirit. The sinful nature is still there, but now we have a direct line of communication with the Father, who will teach us and guide us in our walk with Christ. He will help us fight our battles and grow our spiritual fruits. “But when the Holy Spirit governs our life, he will produce in us these kinds of fruits: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness and temperance.” Galatians 5:22,23. The unsaved can never reach this level of joyful fulfillment because something is missing in life.

Mark 16:15 “And he said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”

Witnessing is difficult for many Christians. However, God commands it. Thousands are beginning to lead others to Christ through “Bridge Ministries.” We often don’t realize that some of the best gifts God has given us are the things we love to do the most. We often think of those gifts as something God has blessed us with to bring joy and pleasure into our lives. While this is true, those gifts were also given to us to serve as a bridge to bring others to church and to Him. Leading others to Christ doesn’t have to be a struggle. It can be as simple as sharing “What you like to do” with others.
