Surrey is always associated with rich and luxurious little towns like Virginia Water and Windlesham. However, the town of Longcross in Surrey, which is situated between Virginia Water, Chertsey and Chobham, has always been much less well known compared to its wealthier neighbours.

Longcross has always been a quiet yet charming haven, attracting families seeking a laid-back lifestyle. Longcross offers a greater variety of family homes away from the high prices of neighboring towns as well as London.

There are a number of amenities in Longcross, including The Old School Café, village life, run from a traditional building on the main road, surrounded by beautiful scenery. The cafe has been a family business for over 50 years and is said to offer the best full English breakfast for miles. It also has great reviews on Trip Advisor. Ringo Starr of the Beatles used to live right across the street.

The town is also home to Longcross Film Studios, where James Bond fallen from heaven the movie was made and the television series Edge of Heaven is currently being filmed. And the studios have always helped boost other local businesses over the years.

The vast Longcross Estate is owned by the current Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Step back into the wild 1,400-acre expanse of Chobham Common, where an American town set was built for the filming of Superman 2 in 1979.

In terms of accessibility, Longcross has a railway station on the main line, which runs between Reading and Waterloo and this railway line makes the town a highly desirable destination for commuters.

Longcross will also soon undergo a massive development program, bringing more wealth and facilities to the town. Crest Nicholson, in partnership with Aviva Investors, expects to build 1,500 mixed-tenure homes and 79,000 square feet of commercial units in what will be known as Longcross Village. Initial works have already begun and are expected to further boost the local economy.

This newly built ‘garden village’ will also feature a renovated train station, primary school, local shops including a farm store, playing fields and woodland walking areas.

This well-kept secret is slowly but surely being discovered, and within the next five to ten years, this relatively unknown town is expected to overtake its neighbors in popularity.
