Teaching English in Mexico: How about the northern states? Part 1

Legal Law

There is a selection of jobs throughout the northern region of Mexico. The proximity to the US border makes it attractive to some English teachers. The scorching heat of summer keeps others away. The region will give you some options and freedom as to where you would like to “whip and bake” as some locals would say. I will try to offer some hotel and restaurant suggestions for these areas in another article. So, let’s get to work:

Uninino has a position available for an enthusiastic elementary school teacher. We are located in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, which is directly across the border from Douglas, Arizona. The city has a population of 100,000 inhabitants. Many people have the misconception that because Agua Prieta is a border town, they will not get the Mexican experience. This is not true. Housing is provided in an apartment shared with two other foreign teachers. Business hours are 7:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. You have two weeks off at Christmas and Easter, along with all the Mexican holidays. These are paid. The requirements are at least one year of experience in teaching in a foreign environment, TESOL certificate, a university degree in any discipline, being enthusiastic with children, having a lot of patience, being 25 years or older and willing to commit for a year .
