The west coast of Florida faces the Gulf of Mexico. The beaches on this side of the state have very white sand, beautiful blue waters and a place for almost any tourist. From Marco Island, which is just south of Naples, to Pensacola Beach in the Panhandle, there are hundreds of beaches to choose from. Although this article may not cover all beach destinations, we will offer a few to consider.
Sanibel Island – Sanibel Island is located off the southwest coast of Florida. It is world renowned for the shells that you can collect and people come from all over to collect its shells. The island itself is very low-key and is ideal for a relaxing vacation for families or honeymooners.
clear water beach – Clearwater Beaches are 35 miles of beautiful wide white sand. Although Clearwater does have some nightlife, it’s close enough to Tampa to have something for everyone.
destination beach – Destin, called the Emerald Coast, has some of the whitest sand of any beach and is very family-oriented. However, like Daytona, you may want to avoid it during spring break, as it is very popular with college students during this time.
Island of Saint George – St. George Island off the Gulf Coast, right where the Panhandle meets the Florida panhandle. A 4-mile bridge connects the mainland with the island. It is very non-commercial and quiet, with only a small number of restaurants, bars, and small businesses. Fantastic relaxing holiday but don’t expect to do much except the beach.
This is only a small fraction of the potential beach destinations on Florida’s west coast. However, almost any beach you visit in Florida will be nice. One of the main considerations is what kind of activities you want while you are not at the beach. Once you know that, you can’t go wrong at any Florida beach.
