It can be really confusing for you to be told not to have contact with your ex in order to get your ex back. When you meet to talk about things, both of you should be in a good mood, in a better frame of mind than you are in right now. If they feel happy and positive, and can talk to each other in a relaxed way, they have a much better chance of getting their ex back.
Do everything you can to stop thinking about the breakup and the fact that you and your ex said those nasty things to each other. Make sure that the activities you do every day are happy and positive. Eventually, this will also make you feel the same way.
