In this first verse, God says that he will allow all the nations of the world to come against Jerusalem. This verse tells us that Jerusalem will be taken, houses will be “looted” and women raped. Half of the city will go into captivity, but the remaining third will not be killed during this takeover. Remember, two-thirds of the Jewish people will be killed, one-third will not.
It is just at this point that Jesus will go out to fight for his people and put an end to all the bloodshed. Your feet will land on the Mount of Olives. Here’s the verse!
“Behold, the day of the Lord is coming, and your spoil will be divided among you. For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; the city will be taken, the houses plundered, and the women raped. Half the city will go to the captivity, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city.Then the Lord will go out and fight against these nations, as He fought on the day of battle. And on that day his feet will be on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem to the east. And the Mount of Olives will split in two, from east to west, forming a very large valley; half of the mount will move north and the other half south. Then you will flee through the valley of my mountain … Thus will the Lord my God come, and all the saints with you … and the Lord will be King over all the earth … the peoples will dwell in it; and there will no longer be total destruction, but Jerusalem will be inhabited safely.
And this will be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem: their flesh will dissolve while they stand, their eyes will dissolve in their sockets, and their tongue will dissolve in their mouths. “(Zechariah 14: 1-12)
2. Notice the very graphic description of what God is going to do with the enemies of Israel. This will be the wrath of God in full manifestation. Now watch what happens in the next verse. God calls the birds in the air and will allow these birds to feed on the meat of the army he just destroyed. The last part of this verse will tell you what you will do with the Antichrist and the False Prophet.
Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds in the midst of heaven: Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, so that you may eat the meat. of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of the mighty, the flesh of horses and those who sit on them, and the flesh of all peoples, free and slaves, small and great. “And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth and their armies, gathered to make war against the one who rode the horse and against his army. Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet, who performed signs in his presence, with which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were thrown into the lake of fire burning with brimstone, and the rest were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the one sitting on the horse. And all the birds were filled with his flesh “(Revelation 19: 17-21).
3. Now what happens to Satan, the Dragon who orchestrated all the events of the Great Tribulation? This is what Jesus does with him.
Then I saw an angel descending from heaven, with the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He took hold of the dragon, the ancient serpent, which is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he cast it into the abyss, and shut it up, and put a seal on it, so that it would no longer deceive the nations until the thousand years were completed. But after these things it is necessary for him to be released. for a season. “(Revelation 20: 1-3)
As you will see below, God will let Satan loose for a “season” at the end of the 1000th Millennium to set up one more battle before we finally get the new heaven and new earth.
4. Here is another verse that shows that Jesus will return immediately after the Great Tribulation is over.
“IMMEDIATELY AFTER THOSE DAYS TRIBULATION, the sun will be darkened and the moon will not shine; the stars will fall from the sky and the powers of heaven will be shaken.
THEN THE SIGN OF THE SON OF MAN WILL APPEAR IN HEAVEN, AND ALL THE TRIBES OF THE EARTH WILL LIGHT, AND SEE THE SON OF MAN REACHING THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN WITH POWER AND GREAT GLORY. And he will send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other “(Matthew 24: 29-31).
Here is another verse on the second coming of Jesus and his vengeance on the wicked.
“Since it is just for God to pay with tribulation to those who afflict them, and to give rest with us to the afflicted, when the LORD JESUS IS REVEALED FROM HEAVEN WITH HIS MIGHTY ANGELS, IN FLAMING FIRE TAKING REVENGE OF THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW GOD, AND THOSE WHO DO NOT OBEY THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, THESE WILL BE PUNISHED WITH ETERNAL DESTRUCTION OF THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD AND OF THE GLORY OF HIS POWER, WHEN HE COMES ON THAT DAY, BE GLORIFIED IN HIS SAINTS AND BE ADMIRED ALL THOSE WHO BELIEVE, BECAUSE OUR
TESTIMONY AMONG YOU WAS BELIEVED “(2 Thessalonians 1: 6-9).
5. Now, here is the verse that says that Jesus will establish a Millennial Kingdom where he will rule the entire earth from the city of Jerusalem.
“And I saw the saints of those who had been beheaded for their testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or hands. AND THEY LIVED AND REIGNED WITH CHRIST FOR A THOUSAND YEARS “. (Revelation 20: 4)
6. Now, what happens after 1000 years have passed? Two events will occur. Satan looses himself for a “season” to attempt to set up one last stand. God finally throws him into the Lake of Fire where he had just thrown the Antichrist and the False Prophet 1000 years earlier. And then we get a new heaven and a new earth. Here are the two verses.
“Now, when the thousand years have elapsed, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations that are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle … They went over the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and their beloved city. And fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and false prophet are. And they will be tormented. day and night forever and ever. ” (Revelation 20: 7)
Notice in the previous verse that Satan once again surrounds what would appear to be Jerusalem. But this time it seems like God will stop him in his tracks before he can even attack God’s people. He is then thrown into the Lake of Fire and that will be the last we will hear from this blasphemous creature ever again!
Now here is the final chapter of the entire saga. After Satan is permanently eliminated forever, the old earth and the old heaven will pass away and a new heaven and a new earth will be given to God’s people. Here is the verse.
“AND I SAW A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH, because the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God’s heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for his And I heard a great voice from heaven saying: “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them and will be their God.” every tear from his eyes, there will be no more death, no pain, no more crying, and there will be no more pain, because the former things passed away. Then the one sitting on the throne said, “Behold, I will renew all things.”And he told me: “Write, because these words are true and faithful.” And he said: It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will freely give the source of the water of life to those who are thirsty. He who overcomes will inherit all things, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But cowards, disbelievers, abominable, murderers, immoral, sorcerers, idolaters and all liars will have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. . “(Revelation 21: 1-8)
Notice that in addition to a new earth and a new heaven, we also get a new city – a New Jerusalem. God the Father will also dwell with us in this new heaven and new earth along with His Son! There will be no more death, no more pain and no more sadness. Now here’s another verse that tells us what this new heaven and new earth will be like.
But I did not see a temple in her, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb is her temple. And the city did not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, because the glory of God illuminated it, and the Lamb its light. And the nations of those who are saved will walk in the light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory and honor to it. Its doors will not close at all during the day (and there will be no night there). And they will bring the glory and honor of the nations to it. But by no means shall anything profane, or cause an abomination or a lie, enter it, but only those that are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life “(Revelation 21: 22-27)
Here is another verse about this new heaven and new earth.
“And there will be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in him, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads, and there will be no night there: they do not need a lamp or light from the sun, because the Lord God gives the light. And they will reign forever and ever. ” (Revelation 22: 3-5)
This verse tells us that the curse of Adam and Eve will finally be broken. We will never die again. No more disease, famine, crime, Satan, demons, bad people, aging, etc. We will truly be in paradise in this new heaven and new earth and will remain in this perfect environment forever and ever! Is it the end of a storybook or what?
The verse above also tells us that both Jesus and God the Father will dwell and live with us in this paradise and we will all have direct access to both! We will no longer need a Jewish temple because God and Jesus will now be the temple. We can worship them directly.
