Venus and Serena Williams are extraordinarily successful tennis masters. Her experience in homeschooling enhances her exceptional professional expression. They are the progeny of his father and self-taught coach, Richard Williams.

Lawrence Rudner PhD, conducted historical research on the benefits of homeschooling around 1998-99. In its partnership with the University of Maryland, it surveyed more than 20,000 participants in education networks across the United States. In this respected study, Rudner revealed the beneficial profile of the homeschool gender. His research demonstrated high academic competencies of home schoolers. It found that the majority of students exhibited 80 to 90 percent proficiency in their studies at home.

The key to these academic results is the one-on-one tutoring aspect for instruction. Adventures in Learning K-12 is a home tutoring approach that includes these successful principles for homeschooling.

The 2007 Rand Corporation study conducted for the US Department of Education reinforced the findings of the Rudner study. The one-on-one tutorial-instructional approach leads to increased academic competence. So the findings of the 1998 Rudner research are further reinforced in 2007 by the Rand Corporation research for the US Department of Education.Other high achievers like Williams’ sister include politicians like Franklin D. Roosevelt. Scientists Booker T Washington and George Washington Carver were homeschooled. Military leader Douglas MC Arthur was also homeschooled. Contemporary pop stars like the Jonas Brothers and Hansen also received instruction at home. Also add comedian Whoopi Goldberg to these ranks.

Interestingly, the results of successful homeschooling transcend the achievement gaps characteristic of public education. So Rudner’s research results showed high academic achievement across all ethnic, racial, and economic groups. Congratulations to Richard Williams, the sharecropper’s son, who taught his daughters the art and science of mastering tennis using his own homeschool approach.
