The Notorious movie cast includes Brooklyn rapper Gravy, to play rap icon Biggie Smalls (Christopher Wallace), also known as the Notorious BIG, in his upcoming biopic. Renowned actors such as Derek Luke and Angela Basset round out the cast. Luke will play Sean Puffy Combs and Basset will play Notorious Big moms. The film has been in the works for some time. This story begins in the late 1980s, when a young Christopher Wallace (played by Biggie’s real son, Christopher Jr.) is seduced by easy money made by crack dealers in Brooklyn. When his mother finds out what the white stuff under her bed really is, she kicks out the teen con man, accelerating his criminal exploits. Wallace makes a quick go to jail and returns home with a variety of powerful new rhymes and a new name: BIG. His demo cassette ends up in the hands of a brash record executive named Sean “Puffy” Combs, and a rap phenomenon is born.
The intricate stories of the women in his life provide new insight into Biggie’s music and personality. No matter how badly he behaved, he was always given one more chance: his mother, Voletta; the mother of his baby; the girl Biggie ripped off the corner and turned into the sex bomb Lil’ Kim; and his wife, singer Faith Evans. Who was one of the subjects of the eventual feud between Biggie and Tupac. He also has a role in the movie. But his character is not explored as deeply.
