Microsoft provides some of the best email client applications for Windows platforms including Windows Live Mail and MS Outlook. Both applications are very popular among Windows users. Before Windows Live Mail, Microsoft provided Outlook Express and Windows Mail on Windows XP and Vista, respectively. The Outlook Express application was replaced by Windows Mail in Windows Vista. But in Windows 7, Windows Mail was replaced by Windows Live Mail. This application can be easily downloaded from the Windows Essentials suite. Now let’s discuss MS Outlook, the most popular email client from Microsoft. MS Outlook is part of a well-known Microsoft Office suite. It also comes as a separate application and you can download it from the official Microsoft Office site.
Both email client applications i.e. Windows Live Mail and Microsoft Outlook support different file formats i.e. EML in Windows Live Mail and PST in Outlook. Although MS Outlook 2013 also supports EML format, a lot of computer users still use older versions of Outlook i.e. MS Outlook 2010 or earlier. Windows Live Mail creates a specific type of file, called an EML, that stores a single email message or can also contain an attachment. Outlook Express can also open EML files but MS Outlook does not support such file format i.e. only MS Outlook 2013 can support EML format. Outlook stores all mailbox data (including email messages) in an Outlook data file, often called a PST or personal storage table.
Sometimes you may need to migrate EML files to MS Outlook if you are switching from Windows Live Mail to MS Outlook. If you are using Outlook 2013, you can access EML files with ease. But if you are using MS Outlook 2010 or any earlier version, it can be quite difficult to migrate EML files to your Outlook. Unfortunately, Microsoft does not provide anything that can help you migrate EML files to your Outlook email client directly. But luckily, I know a manual trick that can help you import Windows Live Mail EML files to Outlook. Although many software companies provide third-party conversion tools for EML to PST conversion, I highly recommend a manual trick (listed below) before purchasing any conversion tools.
Follow the steps below to import Windows Live Mail EML files to Outlook:
- First, throw microsoft-outlook Y Windows Live Mail one by one in your system.
- Now first come to Windows Live Mailclick Tail button > Select Export > Emails.
- This time select microsoft exchange like format and blow next.
- Immediately after pressing next, you will receive this “all email will be exported to Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Exchange”. you can click okay you continue.
- When using the select folders option, you need to select all the email folders or the appropriate folders you want to export.
- Once you have selected the appropriate option, click okay.
- Immediately afterwards, the export process will start and you will have to wait until it is completed successfully.
- In a few seconds, the process will complete and a dialog box will appear. full export will appear on the screen. Click To finalize.
Important notes:
- Although the manual hack above is very safe and easy to perform, you should back up your EML files before running the hack.
- In case of failure, you can try a third party conversion tool which can successfully convert your EML files to Outlook PST format in a very safe way.
