Shawn Corey Carter, better known by his stage name Jay Z, is an American rapper and businessman. He is an embodiment of rags to rich dreams. He was born on December 4, 1969 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the last of four children. His father abandoned him at the age of 12. He also shot his brother in the shoulder for stealing his jewelry. He had a tough adolescence as he became a self-sufficient young man.
