Because of the controversy, the film’s box office numbers suffered.
“No Way Out” is a neo-noir thriller with a riveting plot and a talented cast. It stars Will Patton, George Dzunda, Iman, and David Paymer. The film’s performances are strong, especially Costner’s, who has perhaps one of his best performances. But the film isn’t without its flaws. There are some clunkers and unsatisfying character development.
In the first half, No Way Out is about a love affair that transitions to a romance. Nick, a native of Chicago, is living in LA to start his photography career. He has a friend who helps him, but he’s not making much. He’s also working as a freelance photographer for Soundcloud rappers. But when he meets Tessa on a dating app, her presence in his life changes everything.
The No Way Out plot twist is one of the most surprising surprises in the film. It was one of the sleeper hits of 1987. It turns out that Tom is actually a Russian spy. It’s a shocking revelation considering that the FBI recently arrested a group of Russian spies who had been working and living in the U.S. for several years. This incident inspired the popular 2013 TV show, The Americans.
