The benefits of massage – My opinion

Sports

As someone who has always struggled to relax, I have always found myself with excess tension building up throughout my body. Headaches, muscle aches, and a general feeling of “tightness” are things that have always plagued my daily life, even since school days. A ‘stress head’ is something someone aptly labeled me once, and they were right.

It is difficult to release this stress without the help of another person. If you have a partner (who is willing, of course) or someone close to you who can give you a “helping hand”, then that’s great. A deep massage can certainly relax tension and even release some of the mental stress, since they are all related. But we all know the burden of guilt that comes when you ask someone this too many times. Ironically, it will only add more stress and tension!

I have always firmly believed in the link between the body and the mind, and although one cannot rest, neither can the other. In that sense, I guess the same can be said for stress and ominous feelings. While the mind is active and terrified, the body can also suffer. Muscle tension increases and builds insidiously to a point where unexplained knots, aches and pains occur, all due to a gradual buildup of stress and anxiety.

For this reason, when you get a massage, it can often prompt painful memories or emotional longing. This is good, and you should never let it get you down. If you have a turbulent life or have strong emotional ties to things that happened before, it can trigger that kind of emotional regurgitation. Both the body and the mind are purged, and catharsis is often experienced afterwards.
