The most common mobile app development tools

Technology

The development of mobile applications has been defined as one of the main technical advances in the world today. The development of a mobile application depends on several factors: the budget, the clients and the demand for a specific application. From a mobile app developer’s perspective, budget and knowledge of a programming language can decide your success. These are some commonly used application development tools and some tools used by traditional web programmers.

Some of the most advanced mobile app development tools

Apple iOS Developer Program: Developers who want to create apps for the iPhone must register with the Apple Developer Program and an annual fee of $99 is charged for the program. Once registered, the user can develop applications using the Objective C programming language. The Apple Development Center consists of tools, guides, and run debug tests to create applications for any purpose.

Android OS Program: Most Android-based applications are built using the Java programming language. By downloading the Android SDK (Software Development Kit), the user can start creating new Android applications. The Android-based starter kit consists of sample projects, development tools, source code, and an emulator, which is used to test your new app. More information about Android app development can be found in the videos, white papers, and step-by-step process documents available. Android developer registration charges include a one-time fee of $25.

BlackBerry OS Developer Program – Applications on a BlackBerry operating system are primarily developed using the Java Micro Edition (ME) programming language. An authorized BlackBerry application developer must pay a fee of $200 for every 10 applications submitted. Although, waiver plans are constantly being offered as part of their promotions.

Some of the most popular application development tools used by traditional web programmers

Appcelerator Titanium – one of the most common and recognized tools for creating applications for Apple iOS and Google Android operating systems. It has the Titanium SDK and builds programs using CSS, HTML, or JavaScript code as opposed to using newer programs like Objective-C or Java. The developer can download and build apps for free from the Titanium Community, which also has a Professional and Enterprise version.

MotherApp: Mother App creates apps for Apple, Google Android, BlackBerry and all other mobile platforms. The programmer does not need to be proficient in multiple languages, but can instead learn MotherApp-specific HTML code to create applications. MotherApp’s HTML code is a subset of HTML with special discount tags. These tags are sent in code to MotherApp and the app is ready to use.

PhoneGap: PhoneGap develops applications with standard HTML, CSS or JavaScript. The developer writes the code and then uploads it along with other files to the PhoneGap Build services. PhoneGap currently supports Android, Palm and BlackBerry operating systems.
