Abs Training – Which exercises are IMPORTANT?

For those who want to work out their abs, variation in exercises is extremely important as it completes the entire abs workout. Just sticking to crunches isn’t the solution, but crunches and oblique exercises should be included as well.

If you want to have clearly defined abs or even perfect abs, then it’s important that you have sensible abs training. The abdominal muscle consists of:

  • transversus abdominis
  • abdominal rect
  • internal oblique
  • External oblique

All of these need to be exercised well to achieve the toned look you want. When you have great abs, it not only looks great but also improves the posture you have.

The abs will only show when the body has a healthy ratio of weight to fat. If there is an inch of fat, the abs are not visible. Therefore, the body would need to shed all the excess fat before muscles can be seen.

Abs training should include these exercises along with some cardio exercises. It is also important to eat healthy and get enough rest. The supplements will provide nutrition; however, you will still need to do the abdominal workout.

Crunches are an important part of training, but that’s not all exercises. You would also have to do sit-ups. 23 sit-up sets including 15-20 reps each should be included in the abdominal training. These crunches can be done on the floor, on a bench, or can also be done using the physio ball. An advanced version of the crunch can be performed by resting the weights on your chest.

Reverse crunches should also be included in the workout.

Oblique exercises that affect the left and right obliques should also be included. The best exercise for the obliques are twisting exercises. These can be done on the floor.

Remember that a variation of the exercises performed in the abdominal workout will help you get the abs you want rather than mindless repetition of a single exercise.
