When losing weight, you need to make sure you have the right mindset. This is often a difficult task if you don’t have a plan in place and think you can make some changes and expect miracles. Making a plan will lead to success as it will focus your mind on the goals you want to achieve through better lifestyle choices.

Sit down and write down what you want to achieve by eating better and why. Write down all the reasons why you want to lose weight and what you want to gain. Doing this will make you think about what you really want to achieve and it will become more direct in your mind. Once you know what you want to accomplish, you need to start your observation.

For a few days observe your eating habits and your feelings. Write down everything. Write down what you eat throughout the day, write down if stress or an emotion prompted you to eat, write down how you feel before and after eating. Gaining an understanding of your eating is achieved through self-awareness, observation, and mindful eating. When you start to observe yourself, you may discover things about your eating that you weren’t aware of. For example, you may be more of an emotional eater than you first thought. Most people don’t make this kind of observation and their weight loss suffers because of it. How can you lose weight if you can’t see what you’re doing wrong? That is why observation is so important.

Once you’ve done this simple task, you’ll start to see the changes you need to make to lose weight for good. You may have noticed that you drink a lot of soft drinks. Soft drinks are empty calories and it would be best to drink water. This is why the green tea diet fad is so effective. It prevents people from drinking calorie dense beverages like soda and instead drink tea.

You may also notice that you eat a lot out of boredom or snack throughout the day. The simple things you can do to eliminate these problems are eating plenty of fruit before each meal and eliminating boredom. Write a list of activities you want to do and do them at night instead of being bored in front of the TV.

Once you know your real food-related problems, it becomes very easy to eliminate the causes and start losing weight.
