Climate literacy is a must

Gaming

I heard a speaker talk about climate change, awareness etc while the COP26 Summit is taking place in Glasgow, Scotland, but what made this article mandatory to write is that HE James Alix Michel, ex-Seychelles, he mentioned climate literacy. President, and; I think it’s about time you take this as important as financial literacy and things like that.

When everyone knows about the importance of the effects of climate change for us, in all aspects of our lives, we would never do things that could make this matter worse.

I have been integrating environmental awareness ever since, such as having students do projects related to the cleanup initiative, tree planting, waste separation, to name a few. Getting an early start on the proper ways to protect the environment is vital to at least contribute a little to the global effort to combat climate change.

Imagine the effects this could have if half of the 7.9 billion people planted trees or reduced their meat consumption etc. to our battle against this global problem. On the other hand, the effects of becoming indifferent to this would definitely speak volumes for our quest to reverse the current challenge. Global collaboration is really needed to solve this problem.

However, we really need to learn, unlearn or relearn things to have a better chance of winning this battle.

TO LEARN

Knowing the situation we are in today could be a springboard towards creating small actions, even in your own way, something can be done. Using organic fertilizer, replacing plastic materials with natural materials such as bamboo water bottle, toothbrush, among other environmentally friendly materials.

UNLEARN

Indifference and greed must be out of our system to contribute and help in our journey to reverse the state of our situation and be victorious, not to return to normal, but to continue to evolve as global citizens who are doing great things to have sound. , a healthy and safe world.

RELEARN

Behavior that has been detrimental to our planet, such as activities that increase carbon emissions in agriculture, manufacturing and the like, should be avoided.

Yes, anything here could be done with as little effort as possible, like not sponsoring products that could be wreaking havoc on our environment. Many commercial products flood the market and we should be wise enough to use those that harm the environment less.

A simple walk to work can go a long way toward lowering carbon emissions, rather than using your car; eating less meat is also one.

There are little things you can do to contribute to this initiative. Just look around you and learn where you can fill the gap in your local area on environmental challenges. You can start a project, support an advocacy, write a poem, story or article that addresses and inspires people to engage and help this global concern.

Education is key here. Let your wisdom be a shining light for others to do the same, and have great knock-on effects to make a big difference.

Prince William has been inspiring people and sharing the wisdom behind the Earshot Award as I write this last part of the article. More on this will be addressed later. Health!
