Country music is a type of music that originated in the rural areas of the southern side of the United States of America. It is usually meant for ballads and dance tunes that are usually in simple forms and have harmonies accompanied by string instruments. Some of the renowned record labels in the country are as follows.
mercury records
This record label has existed since 1945. It was founded by Berle Adams, Irving Green and Arthur Talmadge in the city of Chicago. All of these were country music lovers. In 2007, this record label was relaunched as an Island Def Jam Music Group imprint with David Massey as its new CEO. Scotty McCreery is one of the country singers who has recorded with this record label.
Nashville Ridge
This is an American label that is a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment and is managed by the Sony Music Nashville division. It was founded in the year 1989 and specializes in recording country music. Some of the popular artists this record label has produced include Carrie Underwood, Alan Jackson, and Brad Paisley. Previously, Arista Nashville had 3 other sister labels including Arista Austin, Career Records, and Arista Latin. It was also a subsidiary of the popular Arista Records but it was dissolved. Both Arista Records and Arista Nashville are still under Sony Music Group.
Interscope Records
Interscope Records is a record label whose parent company is Universal Music Group. It was founded in 1990 by Jimmie Iovine and Giorgio Saravia. Although he doesn’t exclusively record country songs, that’s one of the musical genres he records. Scotty McCreery, a country singer has been able to work with this label.
There are plenty of other record labels in the country to add to the above. Kelly Clarkson, a country and pop singer works with RCA Records. Other records include Aria, ATP and Carnival Recording.
