Bathroom sinks come in many shapes and sizes designed to complement any size and style of bathroom. The most common bathroom sink styles are listed below.
Self Rim Sinks
Also called countertop sinks, these sinks come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and hole configurations. They are mounted above the counter with a visible edge that fits into the recess in the counter. When ordering this type of sink, be sure to note whether your faucet requires a single hole, 4″ centerset, or extended 8″ configuration, and be sure to order the sink in the same matching configuration.
Undermount Sinks
Also known as undercounter sinks, they are installed under a solid surface counter, such as granite, stone, or man-made material, and do not have a “rim.” To install this style of sink, you may need a mounting kit.
Pedestal Sinks
These are freestanding sinks that sit on their own bases. They are typically generously sized for everyday wear and beautifully styled. Pedestal sinks are perfect for small bathrooms and vanities because they save space but offer no storage space underneath. When selecting a pedestal sink, be sure to consider the finish of any exposed plumbing fixtures underneath.
Vessel-Style Sinks
Also known as countertop sinks, vessel sinks can be mounted on ornate brackets that stand out brilliantly in your bathroom design. This style offers exciting new shapes, patterns and colors, and is placed freely in cabinets to make a big fashion statement. Wall mounted faucets work well with this style of sink; however, some manufacturers offer a tempered glass faucet bracket that attaches to glass vessels and conceals the base of deck-mount faucets. Some containers are made with an overflow, but most do not have an overflow, so a drain grate should be installed to prevent accidental overfilling.
console sinks
Console Sinks combine the style of a pedestal while providing larger countertop areas. The sink and the counter are one. Due to the larger counter area, console sinks come complete with (2) or (4) support legs. This style offers many sink style and size options; oval, rectangular, square and round, and you can choose a single or double bowl. They are easy to clean and offer additional counter space. Standard sizes are available and custom orders can be made.
wall-hung sinks
Installed on the wall, they save space both on the floor and in cabinets. Like pedestal sinks, they are very popular in small bathrooms. They can be installed at any height and are usually offered with an optional towel rail.
